Shear Rail Systems

Shear Rail Reinforcement

Shear rails are a cost-efficient solution to shear transfer at column/slab connections – eliminating conventional solutions, such as rebar stirrups, column capitals, and drop panels. Our shear rails are fabricated in accordance with applicable industry standards and delivered with our post-tensioning tendons as part of a comprehensive package of products and services for our customers.

Installation of Shear Rail
  • Maintain a minimum of 2” clear cover to slab edge
  • Align end of rail with finished face of column
  • Place shear rail perpendicular to each column face
  • Equally space required number of assemblies on each column face
  • Insert shaft of chair through punched hole in shear rail
  • Nail shear rails to formwork to prevent movement during concrete placement
