LifePanel™ is a galvanic cathodic protection system that is attached to the exterior of concrete surfaces to stop corrosion by providing a uniform electrical current to the affected region. The panels cover large areas and may be custom designed or configured to fit nearly any structure type.

The panels are an engineered composite that has a rigid outer shell, with an inner layer of zinc mesh anode encased in a proprietary conductive mortar to maximize anode performance. The anode delivers current through a galvanic process and thus, does not require a remote power supply – making the LIfePanel™ system maintenance-free.

    Easy to Install

    The LIfePanel™ system comes as a complete package, including pre-wired and sized panels, anchors, junction box kit and coating material, if specified. The panels are attached using a trowel-on adhesive mortar and mechanically anchored for a permanent installation.

    On reinforced concrete structures with severe corrosion damage and spalling, LIfePanel™ may be used as a stay-in-place form for placement of cementitious repair materials.

*The test method for auto-corrosion shall be to pulverize 200 g of the grout material and add 100 ml distilled water to make a slurry. Suspend pre-measured zinc anode test strips within the slurry and calculate thickness loss after 2 weeks. This test shall be conducted within 10 days of anode grout encapsulation. The zinc anode strips shall conform to ASTM B418, Type II.
**The test method for pH shall be to pulverize the grout material and adding enough distilled water to minimally wet the pulverized grout in order to measure the pH with pH paper. This test shall be conducted within 10 days of anode grout encapsulation.
***The test method for resistivity shall on the pane grout cast in cylinders and resistivity tested according to F-DOT Method of Test FM 5-578

Doug Leng

Doug Leng is a Vice President of Business Development with STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, Hanover MD. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering focused on Physical Metallurgy and Materials Processing from Michigan Technological University. He has over 20 years of industry experience with a primary focus on cathodic protection of steel reinforced concrete. Leng is the Chariman of NACE TG047 - Sacrificial Cathodic Protection of Steel Reinforced Concrete, and an active member of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the American Society of Metals (ASM). Leng is a co-inventor of the LifeJacket® Cathodic Protection System, author of several papers, articles and abstracts on the topic of cathodic protection of steel reinforced concrete.

Corrosion Assessment

Corrosion assesmentSTRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES supports both our in-house and industry partners in condition assessment by performing a variety of evaluations to determine the extent of corrosion related damages. We draw upon the experience of our corrosion experts to interpret the data and ascertain the level of deterioration of a structure. In addition we evaluate the longevity of the structure based on its current condition and potential extension of its service life based on repair and/or installation of corrosion mitigation systems.
