CAC Industries is currently contracted to replace nearly 7,500 LF of their 48-inch diameter riveted steel trunk main in the Borough of Brooklyn. A portion of this project involves a stretch of approximately 750 LF of pipe that runs underneath and around heavily trafficked roadways, the MTA subway, the Long Island Railroad, and other various buried infrastructure.

After evaluating multiple options for rehabilitating this 750 LF section of the trunk main, Carbon Fiber was selected and is designed as a stand-alone repair with a 50-year life design in accordance with AWWA C305 Class IV liners. Trenchless rehabilitation using a fully structural internal structural lining system was appealing to the City given the minimized impact to the surrounding infrastructure and community.

CAC Industries subcontracted Structural to perform this scope using its V-WrapTM Carbon Fiber System. This interactive technical site visit is being conducted to provide guests the opportunity to learn about the options analysis process for this repair and a detailed up-close look at the construction aspects and logistics for pipeline repair and upgrade.
