Hamilton Garage is a 60,000 square foot below-grade concrete elevated parking structure. During its short lifespan the elevated deck was inundated with chlorides from washing down snow equipment. This accelerated the deterioration of the reinforcement in the concrete, making the structure no longer safe or operational.
Having successfully completed a previous project with the owner and with a reputation for safe, quality work, PULLMAN was contracted for the repairs. The team implemented an innovative solution using cathodic protection to extend the service life, offering a better financial and timely option than demolition and a rebuild. To maximize production a custom fabricated apparatus was built to double productions and provide more consistent coverage.
After the completion of the cathodic protection system, PULLMAN was engaged to completely replace the deteriorated parking deck. PULLMAN provided the expertise in planning and execution, leading to a flawless operation of false forming, saw cutting, concrete removal, forming, placing reinforcement, and pouring a new deck. The team’s thoughtful planning and coordination allowed the project to be completed on time and with zero safety incidents.
