Reliable water is crucial for communities, underscoring the importance of maintaining watermain systems to prevent disruptions in service. When the City of Ottawa discovered increased deterioration to the Woodroffe Watermain, emergency repairs were needed.
The watermain, comprised of Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP), had wire breaks in two pipe sections. Given time constraints and the challenging location beneath a culvert, conventional excavation and replacement methods would be difficult.
STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES’ StrongPIPE® V-Wrap™ Carbon Fiber System was the optimal solution, offering an internal repair method with minimal downtime and disruption.
PULLMAN, an exclusive licensee of STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, implemented the repairs. Within a week, the team successfully restored sixty feet of 48-inch diameter PCCP, quickly bringing the main water feed back into service for the city.
